Born in Calhoun County, Alabama while his father was stationed at Fort McLellan, Jonah Kim Rivera played piano, trumpet, and drums before becoming a guitarist, singer, and band leader. Gigging and session recording at age 15, he studied writing at Cornell where he formed Seneca Hawk, charting on the CMJ Top 100. As a Los Angeles session musician, his playing can be heard on HBO and as big band guitarist for the Robin Simone Hollywood Orchestra. Recently forming the Rivera Blues Band, he hit the recording studio with retro electric blues arrangements and original songs, performing and producing his debut album, releasing 2025.
